What is a key pair?

Every key pair consists of a private key and a public key. As the name suggests, the public key is available to everyone. If someone wants to send you an encrypted message, they use your public key to cipher the message. Then, you use your private key to decrypt it and make it readable. Secure Email provides an extra protection – the private key is protected with a secret passphrase and a key word.
